Providing community options for vulnerable people.

About

NewLife Options Inc is a federally incorporated not for profit agency that is committed to developing high standard community solutions for vulnerable individuals. We are guided by our mission to support individuals, regardless of their unique challenges or circumstances, with respect and dignity in an environment that embraces community inclusion and one that allows everyone to be seen and valued in the community in which they reside.

Our Mission

To support all individuals, regardless of their unique challenges or abilities, in an environment that promotes relationship building, self-determination, and full community inclusion in a respectful and dignified manner.

Our Values

Every person we encounter will be treated with respect and dignity. We will operate our business in an open, honest and transparent fashion.

Guiding Principles

We believe the best outcomes for individuals are achieved by:

  •          Developing meaningful relationships within and outside the agency

  •          Focusing on “doing with” versus ‘doing for’

  •          Understanding every moment provides an opportunity to engage

  •          Supporting and allowing for activities that are meaningful for the individual

  •          Finding opportunities for the individual to engage with their community

Services

NewLife can provide a wide range of services that will be tailored to meet the goals of the identified funder and their participants. Some of our services include the following.

24 Hour Shift Staffed Community Homes

Enough staffing hours to meet the day to day needs of the resident(s) in a safe and supportive manner. Achievement of reaching maximum level of independence and full community engagement are some of the main goals.

Crisis or Emergency Placement

NewLife will provide crisis or emergency placement beds in a 24-hour supported environment. Referrals for individuals waiting placement or for stabilization can be accepted for short and long-term needs.

24 Hour Family Style Homes

Like the shift staffed homes however the caregivers “live” with the individual(s) resulting in a more consistent and predictable approach. The absence of shift changes occurring every 8 hours means less commotion and anxiety for some individuals. Less staff to operate a home equals less staff the participants need to know and adjust to. While there are some limitations to this model (i.e. labour standards might apply, overnights must be stable) it more closely resembles a normal family or roommate style of living.

Workshops and Training

Semi Independent Living

NewLife will provide just enough staffing to ensure individuals living semi-independently are safe. Assisting individuals to achieve higher levels of independence is one of the main goals.
